  1. Good product 4 Star Review

Posted by on 6th Jul 2018

Just received and installed it. Install was super easy. Gave 4 stars only because the 2 bracket assembly welds face up and are visible. Would be a cleaner look with welds on the underside. Comfort not yet determined until I take an extended ride but feels right so far. Quality looks good. Price point excellent.

  2. Can't beat it. 5 Star Review

My first time buying from Grasshopper and I couldn't be more pleased. It arrived within days of the order even to Canada. It took about 15 minutes to install and is just what I needed for a long trip. I can't understand how other companies can charge up to $400 for a backrest when Grasshopper can do it for $85.

  4. Great product, well made. 5 Star Review

I have a 2008 Yamaha Roadliner. The backrest is great. It was very easy to install, and I find it comfortable while riding. Unfortunately, when the backrest is not installed the bracket that remains attached to the passenger seat is very uncomfortable. Could use a pad cover for when backrest is not in use. To have to install / uninstall each time will be somewhat cumbersome.

  5. Good product, good price and EXCELLENT service 5 Star Review

Very good and prompt presales support. Ordered a solo version for an XV1900 Roadliner, very quick delivery (within 4 days to Europe).

By mistake the pillion version was delivered. Impressive quality, but not what I wanted.

Grasshopper reacted within one day(!) and has sent me a replacement free - due to high shipment cost they did not even want to have the first delivery back! Impressive.

So, now I can judge both versions - well built, sturdy, they make a good impression. Mounted the solo one, fits good, looks really excellent and fits the stock seat and my luggage rack really fine.

All you need are just two longer M8 screws, as the original ones are too short - mounted in 5 minutes. The solo version has an additional small allen screw for fixing, easy to remove but no way for nonchalantly taking away, as an other reviewer wrote.

And as for the main purpose - yes, it is very comfortable, perfect angle/size for me. It is like riding a new bike :-)

Highly recommended, even with shipping costs more affordable than any other backrest in Europe and considering the support - worth every cent!

    Absolutely satisfied.

  6. Backrest install ! 4 Star Review

Posted by on 26th Jul 2017

The quality of the seat looks good . I have had 2 other backrests and the vinyl didn't hold up but the bracket was much more substantial , one was painted and one chrome , about the same price . Hopefully this vinyl is better on this . I was thinking the attachment point was under the seat and would require seat removal to remove the backrest , but this is designed to pull out and is a very loose fit and wobbles side to side and up and down when your not leaning onto it . When you park your bike , to prevent theft , you would need to remove it and put it in your saddlebag , otherwise someone could nonchalantly remove it and walk away with it . I think as the previous commenter said , a little bit better engineering could have been done and at least tap a couple threaded holes and include set screws so you could make it non - removable if so desired . Also , more pictures showing the brackets on the solo and non solo configuration would help you choose which one you would like would be helpful .

I will probably make modifications to make it more secure . Just would-be nicer if it wasn't necessary .

  7. Quality. Stop thinking it over and just do it. 4 Star Review

After being let down by poor quality products on a popular auction website, I finally understand the old adage "buy quality and buy it once". I am impressed with the quality of the product. The installation was effortless, ordering was easy, delivery was timely and I cannot wait to take my next cross country ride with this product.

  8. Awesome product! 4 Star Review

Posted by on 11th Apr 2017

If you are like me, the stock seat is very uncomfortable after about an hour. I figured a backrest would help immensely... but they are incredibly expensive. That's when I found this site, and their products. I ordered a backrest for my 2006 Roadliner and figured for the price; if it was terrible I'd only be out a little money.. and if it was great, then I got a steal.. I got a steal.

The backrest arrived exactly when it was supposed to. Upon first seeing it, I was impressed with the quality of the construction materials, and initial overall quality too. Installation was even simpler than the instructions advertised since I have ratcheting wrenches; without them, removing the pillion seat would be easier.

I appreciate the fact that the backrest slides easily out of the bracket when you don't need it, and that the bracket fits almost seamlessly with the stock seat. One suggestion I would make would be to have tapped holes drilled in the bracket to mount the backrest more permanently to the backrest. I will be making this modification to minensure since I don't encounter situations whereby I would need to remove the backrest.

The brackets themselves are somewhat flexible, but definitely not to the point of me worrying about bending it permanently or breaking it. Overall the brackets seem very solid.

For reference, I am 6 feet tall and 240 lbs. I have no trepidation about leaning against it while blowing down the highway.

I recommend this backrest for those who don't want to dump a few hundred on a used seat, or almost a grand for a new one.

As they say: "Try it, you'll like it."

  10. 2014 Stratoliner Deluxe 5 Star Review

Posted by on 6th Feb 2017

Orderd this for my Stratoliner Deluxe.I wanted something that would fit and look right with the solo stock seat.I don't use the passenger seat so I had to have a bracket that would look good when viewed from behind.I couldn't find any pictures of this on a bike with a solo seat when viewed from the back,so I took a chance. For anyone on the fence about this concern, don't worry,it looks great,it's sturdy, and hits me in the back right where I wanted it to be.Great product!
