If you are like me, the stock seat is very uncomfortable after about an hour. I figured a backrest would help immensely... but they are incredibly expensive. That's when I found this site, and their products. I ordered a backrest for my 2006 Roadliner and figured for the price; if it was terrible I'd only be out a little money.. and if it was great, then I got a steal.. I got a steal.
The backrest arrived exactly when it was supposed to. Upon first seeing it, I was impressed with the quality of the construction materials, and initial overall quality too. Installation was even simpler than the instructions advertised since I have ratcheting wrenches; without them, removing the pillion seat would be easier.
I appreciate the fact that the backrest slides easily out of the bracket when you don't need it, and that the bracket fits almost seamlessly with the stock seat. One suggestion I would make would be to have tapped holes drilled in the bracket to mount the backrest more permanently to the backrest. I will be making this modification to minensure since I don't encounter situations whereby I would need to remove the backrest.
The brackets themselves are somewhat flexible, but definitely not to the point of me worrying about bending it permanently or breaking it. Overall the brackets seem very solid.
For reference, I am 6 feet tall and 240 lbs. I have no trepidation about leaning against it while blowing down the highway.
I recommend this backrest for those who don't want to dump a few hundred on a used seat, or almost a grand for a new one.
As they say: "Try it, you'll like it."

Orderd this for my Stratoliner Deluxe.I wanted something that would fit and look right with the solo stock seat.I don't use the passenger seat so I had to have a bracket that would look good when viewed from behind.I couldn't find any pictures of this on a bike with a solo seat when viewed from the back,so I took a chance. For anyone on the fence about this concern, don't worry,it looks great,it's sturdy, and hits me in the back right where I wanted it to be.Great product!

I ride a 14 Strat Deluxe and a friend found your site and sent it to me. I purchased it at the start of this season (my 2nd on the Strat)and it is AWESOME!!! Made a huge difference and I never take it off. Install was simple. I did bend mine a bit to adjust for my riding position, again simple, and I put some foam tape around the bracket to stop if from sliding in and out, again simple. I have a pro pad gel and a sheepskin cover on the stock seat plus now the backrest and it cost me way less than a new seat and I am so comfortable and we ride many long distance trips. GREAT PRODUCT!!!

This is the 2nd backrest I've had from Grasshopper on 2 different bikes. Installation was very easy and instructions were easy to follow. It took about 10 minutes to install on my 2014 Strato Deluxe. These backrests are great support and with the metal used and nice cushion it allows it to give when riding rough roads and hitting bumps. Standard delivery was very quick.

I need back support due to the force this bike has when launching from a stop. From the time I received it to the time on the bike installed was less than 15 minutes. I have the solo and like that it is adjustable fore and aft. Great customer service and a great product

Ensure you have a dremel handy when installing. Removal of metal from backseat attachment bracket and some plastic from the backseat where the backrest recepticle rubs was necessary for my riders seat to reattach after installing. It's only because I've seen the prices of other backrests that the minor mod's didn't bother me. I havn't seen Grasshopper backrests for other brands and models. But I would guess it's the same basic design. A closer look by their engineering dept could have incorporated a better and stronger attachment design for my bike.

I have a Star Roadliner and was looking for a backrest that I could use without my passenger seat attached. I heard of this one on a Star bike forum and gave it a try. Very simple to install, took less than five minutes. I had called and informed the gentleman at Grasshopper(sorry, don't remember the name) that I was installing an Ultimate Mid riser seat and didn't know if a different bracket was needed. The one I received works perfectly with both seats. Great support from both the Grasshopper backrest and the people that sells them.

My husband ordered this for me. I am impressed at how much more comfortable I am when riding. I have priced those 300 dollar backrest, they can not be any more comfortable than my Grasshopper Backrest. I would buy it again and recommend it to anybody who wants to be more comfortable when riding. I even feel safer and more in control of my bike. Thank you Grasshopper for a great backrest at a good price.

Ordered your product on a Friday and received it on Monday from USPS no less. It was very easy to install and on the bike within a half hour.I had been looking for an add-on driver back rest to go along with my stock seat. Only alternative seemed to be buy a new seat, not an option for me with costs reaching upwards of $600. Grasshopper Ltd. solved the problem with a quality product for only $99. My back thanks you and I have been spreading the word to fellow enthusiasts of your product line. Thank you Grasshopper Ltd for a quality product at a very affordable price.
