    Backrest install !

Posted by michael west on 26th Jul 2017

The quality of the seat looks good . I have had 2 other backrests and the vinyl didn't hold up but the bracket was much more substantial , one was painted and one chrome , about the same price . Hopefully this vinyl is better on this . I was thinking the attachment point was under the seat and would require seat removal to remove the backrest , but this is designed to pull out and is a very loose fit and wobbles side to side and up and down when your not leaning onto it . When you park your bike , to prevent theft , you would need to remove it and put it in your saddlebag , otherwise someone could nonchalantly remove it and walk away with it . I think as the previous commenter said , a little bit better engineering could have been done and at least tap a couple threaded holes and include set screws so you could make it non - removable if so desired . Also , more pictures showing the brackets on the solo and non solo configuration would help you choose which one you would like would be helpful . I will probably make modifications to make it more secure . Just would-be nicer if it wasn't necessary .

Quality. Stop thinking it over and just do it.

After being let down by poor quality products on a popular auction website, I finally understand the old adage "buy quality and buy it once". I am impressed with the quality of the product. The installation was effortless, ordering was easy, delivery was timely and I cannot wait to take my next cross country ride with this product.

    Awesome product!

If you are like me, the stock seat is very uncomfortable after about an hour. I figured a backrest would help immensely... but they are incredibly expensive. That's when I found this site, and their products. I ordered a backrest for my 2006 Roadliner and figured for the price; if it was terrible I'd only be out a little money.. and if it was great, then I got a steal.. I got a steal. The backrest arrived exactly when it was supposed to. Upon first seeing it, I was impressed with the quality of the construction materials, and initial overall quality too. Installation was even simpler than the instructions advertised since I have ratcheting wrenches; without them, removing the pillion seat would be easier. I appreciate the fact that the backrest slides easily out of the bracket when you don't need it, and that the bracket fits almost seamlessly with the stock seat. One suggestion I would make would be to have tapped holes drilled in the bracket to mount the backrest more permanently to the backrest. I will be making this modification to minensure since I don't encounter situations whereby I would need to remove the backrest. The brackets themselves are somewhat flexible, but definitely not to the point of me worrying about bending it permanently or breaking it. Overall the brackets seem very solid. For reference, I am 6 feet tall and 240 lbs. I have no trepidation about leaning against it while blowing down the highway. I recommend this backrest for those who don't want to dump a few hundred on a used seat, or almost a grand for a new one. As they say: "Try it, you'll like it."
