2018 Harley Davidson Heritage Softail Installation Instructions
1. Remove passenger seat exposing two knurled nuts
2. Remove nuts and place supplied bracket over existing studs
3. Reinstall nuts (you may have to pull up on studs if they slip down)
4. Put passenger seat back on.
5. Install new backrest in the bracket and ride safe!
(if upright is loose put one piece of electrical tape around tongue and reinstall)

Good for the Price
After installing the backrest, I went for a test ride. The first thing I noticed is how much "give" there was in the bracket that mounts to the fender. I was worried that it would bend or, worse, do damage to the seat mounting hardware and/or fender. So far, that doesn't appear to be the happening. The other thing I noticed was how thick it is and how soft the padding is in the backrest. I would have preferred it to be less thick and a little more firm like the H-D backrest is on my '14 Ultra Limited. My guess is there were a lot less options for fabricating a backrest for the Softails because of the limitations for mounting it. Overall, it does make a difference by relieving the stress on my lower back and, for the price, it's not a bad product. I recommend it if you're looking for a backrest because, after all, there aren't a lot of options out there.
